Being incorporated and getting insurance are our main barriers to accepting members.

We are going to list stuff we need in the indeo go go video so people can give us items instead of giving us money.

We want to have an open house event for Pi Day (03-14). Eric, Erik, and Drew had discusses fitting a electrically operated frosting gun on the CNC machine and having it write the digits of PI on a pie while being controlled by a Raspberry Pi

Other suggestions included:
Erik: hav a Raspberry Pi calculating the digits of Pi on a large screen.
Ben: There is a way to calculate the digits of Pi by throwing objects into a circular area, the idea being that we could throw or launch objects into a taped out circle on the gym floor from the bleachers
Eric: We could have”pay to throw pies at the President of TCMS (Drew)”

Meeting Notice 1-11-13

This weeks meeting 01-11-13 will be at the TC Makerspace. Located in the NYPENN Trade Center on 1st Street in Johnson City. Parking is in the area indicated by the red arrow in the picture. The meeting will start at 7:30 PM.

And then there was a space.

Well it’s finally happened, for anyone who hasn’t heard we have a space. First months rent, security deposit and we are in. There is a lot of work to do, but we are making progress. If anyone is interested in checking out the space please contact us and we’d be more than happy to set up a time.

First Friday & Space!

TCMS will be at River Read books located at 5 Court Street in downtown Binghamton. Stop by and check us out! We will be doing some 3D printing, operating a CNC machine using a marker, and have some electronics projects!

Over the weekend the charter members will be at the space we have acquired in the back of the NYPENN trade center. Parking lot located on 1st st in Johnson City. If you would like to see the space please stop by from 3-5PM.

Meeting 12-21-2012 Points

The big news is that we voted and decided to move into the NYPENN space. We may end up outgrowing the space, but for the moment it makes the most sense. The space meets our requirements, has low enough rent that we can save money for tools, renovations, and other stuff. Below is a list of things we will need to move in and secure the space

Move items
  • Solid door for main entrance – sliding or hinged
  • Access control system  $250
  • DVR $170
  • Uhaul & moving supplies $200
Post move items:
  • Insurance (in progress)
  • Install fee for internet $150
  • 501C3 for tax deductible donations

Sorry for the lack of meeting notes from this week and last weeks meeting, everything has been a bit sideways since we moved into the new space, and our note taker has been ill.

The other meeting points were:

Asking everyone to review the Milwaukee Makerspace’s bylaws.http://milwaukeemakerspace.org/about/makerspace-policies/

We would like to build off of these bylaws. This list is very common for MakerSpaces

We are also planning on doing a Kickstarter to raise funds for specific additions to the space. Any suggestions on what we can offer as perks would be great. So far we are planning on offering T-shirts and engraved acrylic thank you plaques.

We would like to raise $5,000 this will allow us to purchase additional items. See below list

  • Storage bins
  • Utility sink
  • Fire extinguishers A,B,C and water
  • First aid kits
  • Extension cords
  • Light fixtures
  • Solder stations and exhaust
  • Dust collection
  • CNC laser machine
  • Insurance
  • Fridge
  • Microwave
