This thread is for discussing the design and building of an electric vehicle to participate in the 2014 Power Racing Series at Maker Faire NY.

Motor Controller
Batteries
Wheels
Braking system
Power Wheels Car
Helmet
Emergency Cut Off Switch
Battery Charger

Parts we have:
Electric Motor


Looking at the rules there are a few cool exclusions that make the $500 price tag more do-able. First of all the batteries only count for 50% of their fair market value so that doubles our battery budget. Additionally the spare batteries that we have as swap ins in the pit don't' count towards our budget. Safety items like the cutoff switch also don't count towards our budget.
