  1. Over 6 months ago on an afternoon walk around BU’s student union I attempted to see if any interest could be generated by knocking on doors. I attempted to explain the general ideas about maker spaces and found various persons receptive. I did not make any personal connections but I did see a potential for further attempts for meeting with student orgs and perhaps contacting staff members. Finding interested parties in the engineering or computer science departments would be my goal. Finding individuals who could offer resources in knowledge and interested campus members could only be a boon.

Are the balance of current members students or citizens of Greater Binghamton? I’m 44 and I want to learn and do various pursuits. I would like to help in the next First Friday event if possible. Promotions and interacting with the public are my tendancy and I did so most recently at this years Zombie Walk by handing out rout maps. Prior to that I have had over 4 years of experience promoting the NY faerie fest at the First Friday and other events in the spring.

  2. Glad to hear it. You sound like a natural when it comes to interacting with the public.

So far we are, oddly enough, mostly not BU students. We have a couple BU students, a couple BU graduates, a high school student, BCC student, and mostly people that aren’t affiliated with or currently in and education programs.

We’d love to see you at the future meetings.

With regards to Frist Friday planning, we’d love to have you onboard with that. There either is, or will be (depending on when you read this) a new thread up on the TCMakerspace sub Reddit for planning Fisrt Friday stuff.
